Mise en scene
The objective of the lesson on November 30, 2021 is to identify the elements of mise en scene and define them. Mis en scene is the setting or surroundings of an event or action, typically seen in films, theatricals or television productions. This can be anything from colors, lighting, composition, set design, setting, acting, and costumes. This is important in films to turn moving images into a message or art form that audiences can decode. Designing, blocking, arranging objects and framing are elements of mise en scene that create meaning in a shot.
On this day, we were assigned a digital graphic organizer or table to show what are the elements of mise en scene, define them, and document how they create meaning in a scene. These elements include setting, acting, costume, set design/props, composition, and lighting.
