Post-Production (Editing Part 2)

Post-Production (Editing Part 2) This blog pertains to the first draft of the film we produced on the editing platform "wevideo.com". After my teammates and I decided on an editing platform to use to comprise our film, I started the process of editing the scenes we filmed. Editing is the process of choosing, manipulating and arranging images and sounds in the post-production phase of a film. This process has a significant impact on how an audience interprets our media text and how they will feel when consuming it. Ultimately, its main purpose would be to create a narrative space and establish a narrative time, create the illusion of a film unfolding naturally, create character development, and to engage our audience effectively.  The first steps I would take towards arranging elements of the film is importing the several scenes we filmed in the production phase. I would then arrange the videos in order to put in place the vision that my teammates I came up with in planning. ...

Post Production (Editing Part 1)

Post Production (Editing Part 1) After production, which dealt with filming the scenes we planned to put into our movie "Caught Up", my teammates and I started post-production. Post production is the stage of production after shooting or recording individual scenes  to organize sections of the film, add appropriate sounds and effects, and perfecting the connotations you want to portray in your film. The job of editor would be assigned to me after a detailed discussion with my teammates on who would the best editor for our film. I have the most expertise with editing short videos, so the responsibility would be given to me.  The editing software that my teammates and I agreed upon was "wevideo.com", which is an online cloud-based editing platform that works in the web browser and on mobile. This provided the extra ability to edit our film on a mobile device if we did not have access to a computer or laptop. Additionally, it is a straight forward and easy platform to...

Production (Filming)

Production/Filming After my teammates and I finished the storyboard, script, and outline of what our film will be based on, we started filming at our high school, Piper. We would start by getting establishing shots of our school to show the setting our film, which may pertain to the place, time of day, and time period the film takes place. This is apart of ACT I, which are the first few opening images before the set up and introduction of the characters in the film. The first shot would be a static shot of the front of the school, where it clearly shows the name of the high school and the mascot of the school. In this case, it would be "Piper High School, Home Of The Bengals". Next, we would take an establishing shot outside from a low angle of a staircase that leads to the school auditorium. This is used to establish the school colors that define the school and to get another shot of outside the school, where the set up will take place. Lastly, a tracking shot would be film...

Production Company Logo Design

Production Company Logo Design In the pre production phase of our movie "Caught Up", we had to come up with a production company logo design. The name of our production company is "Power Productions", which evokes a powerful and energetic feeling behind it. We discussed various ideas of what the logo would look like. At first, we came to the decision that the logo should be a lighting bolt that reflects the idea of "Power" in our company. Additionally, we thought that the logos primary colors should be yellow and black to reflect what the traditional color of a lighting bolt is. Consequently, we would go to a free website where you can design company logos and came up with the image shown below.  After a continued discussion of what the company logo should look like, we decided that the initial logo we created was too basic and did not fit into the film we were creating. As a result, we created an animated logo that represents the idea of "Power Prod...

Pre Production (Planning Outline)

Pre Production (Planning Outline) The most important part of creating an opening scene or film is planning. This can include defining the general information of the film, the audience, film crew and cast, logline, characters, supporting characters, the setting of the world, narrative structure, exposition, and shot lists. In this blog, I will introduce all these elements through a planning sheet my teammates and I completed in the early stages of pre production.  To start of with, knowing the general information of your film and the audience is key in creating an effective film or opening scene. The title of our movie is "Caught Up", which is meant to be a action/comedy film that is PG-13, and expresses the theme that someone should not trust everyone. A detailed synopsis of what our audience for this film is can be seen in the image below.  Next, we discussed and created a visual representation of the roles my teammates I would have during production. This is the film c...
